Author: Michelle K. Pickett
Published:  March 17th, 2015
Publisher:  Clean Teen Publishing
Genre:  YA Paranormal Romance

Synopsis:  It’s hard being good all the time. Everyone needs to be bad once in a while. But for seventeen-year-old Milayna, being good isn’t a choice. It’s a job requirement. And it’s a job she can’t quit. Born a demi-angel, Milayna steps in when danger and demons threaten the people around her, but being half angel isn’t all halos and happiness. Azazel, Hell’s demon, wants Milayna’s power and he’ll do anything to get it. But he only has until her eighteenth birthday, after which she becomes untouchable.

With the help of other demi-angels, Milayna thwarts the trouble Azazel sends her way. Fighting by her side is Chay. He’s a demi-angel who’s sinfully gorgeous, and Milayna falls hard. But is Chay her true love… or her nemesis in disguise? When she learns of a traitor in her group, there’s no one she can trust… not even the one she loves.

About the Author:
Michelle is the bestselling author of the young adult novel “PODs.” She was born and
raised in Flint, Michigan, but now lives in a sleepy suburb outside Houston
with her extremely supportive husband, three school-aged children, a 125 pound
“lap dog,” and a very snooty cat.
Red Bull or Monster Khaos are her coffee of choice, and she can’t write without
peanut butter M&Ms and a hoodie. A hopeful romantic; she loves a
swoon-worthy ending that will give her butterflies for days. She writes across
genres in the young adult and new adult age groups. She loves to hear from her
readers. Michelle signed her new young adult contemporary novel— Unspeakable, with Clean Teen
Publishing in 2014.

Keep Calm and Answer These Questions

  1. Do you consider yourself a logophile? If so, have you always been?

Definitely to both questions. I enjoy learning new words and their meanings. I like to read and see how other authors arrange their sentences, piecing the words together.

2. What is your favorite color?

Purple. Not a light shade like lavender, but a deep, rich, jewel tone.

3. Where were you born? Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. I lived in the same house from the day I was born until I married my husband.

4. What is your favorite football team?

The University of Michigan…Blue and Maize!!

5. What is your favorite book?

“Olivia and Jai” by Rebecca Ryman. Which is odd because it’s a historical romance and that isn’t a genre I normally read. But the story takes place in India, somewhere I’d like to visit. And while the story is fiction, the author seamlessly added nonfiction elements of traditions and their culture.

6. What do you do when you are not writing?

I love photography and I’m almost always spending time with my family, usually torturing them by taking pictures (that’s their opinion, anyway).

7. Do you have a day job as well?

Yes, I’m a mom. And writing. J I’m one of the lucky ones who gets to write full-time. Of course, I’m broke because of it, but I love what I do and my husband supports it fully.

8. Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

Be tenacious. No does not mean no in this business. No means try harder.

9. What do you typically drink while writing?

Caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine.

10. What has been the toughest criticism so far?

I don’t even want to repeat it, it was so horrible. Let’s just say I spent a few days so upset I couldn’t write. I questioned if I SHOULD write. It was a personal attack on my character and it crushed me. Thankfully, I had family, fellow author friends, and an editor and publishing house that supported me and I worked through it. Now I try to stay away from reviews, but that’s hard. Reviews are so important to authors. I can’t ignore them, but I do try not to read the horrible ones. I stick to those that give me some constructive advice—even if it’s negative it can be helpful. Just, please, be nice. J

11. What has been the best compliment?

Someone told me that my book should be a movie and that one day I’d be a NYT’s bestseller. I don’t know if her predictions will come true, but it sure put a smile on my face when I read the email.

12. Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?

No, everything in my books comes straight from my imagination.

13. How did you come up with the title?

I heard the name a few years ago and loved it. It just seemed to fit the character.

14. Will there be a sequel?

Yes, Milayna is a trilogy. All three books are written and will release this year. The second book, “Milayna’s Angel,” will release in July. The third book, “The Innocent,” will release in November, which is also when the sequel to PODs will release.

15. What project are you working on now?

I have a couple of things going on now. I’m working on the “Freedom Series.” There is a sequel to Willow and Brody’s story and a companion novel that tells Jenna’s story. I haven’t decided if I’ll continue after that, but I may write another companion telling Tim’s story.

Along with the “Freedom Series” I’m writing a new adult novel that I’m really excited about. The main character is such a nice guy, well, both main characters nice people. There’s no bad boy turns angelic, no huge secret that comes out, just a tender, loving, romance. Of course, there has to be conflict in a story to make it worth reading…so their romance isn’t smooth sailing.

16. What question did I leave out that you’d like to answer?

I’d just like to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share with you and readers today.

Also, I’d like to thank readers. You guys rock, seriously rock. Thank you for spending time in my imaginary worlds. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I’d really love to hear from you! Find me on the web and we can chat. I’d really like to know what you’d like to see happen in the writing community, what books you want to see more of—less of. So drop me an email and let’s chat.
