JRW Love

I’ve met amazing people in the past 4 years at the James River Writers Conference!

You can get to know them too by checking out their websites & blogs:

Lisa Blair

Lisa Blair-  Lisa is a writer and reader of YA fiction. Like me, she prefers

books that are made from actual paper.

Josh Cane is a writer and web professional. For website design and ebook solutions, check out his website Original Web Productions-  Check out his writing blog at

Gary Caruso-  Gary is the author of Our Souls to Keep, which is a Paranormal Romantic Thriller, and The Dark Side of Truth, which is a Mystery/Thriller. He’s also a phenomenal middle school science teacher and critique partner.

Shawna Christos- Shawna Christos is co-writer of River Town, (historical fiction). She’s an incredibly helpful person (especially when it comes to short story edits) as well as an incredible listener.

Mary Chris Escobar-  Mary Chris’s debut novel Neverending Beginnings is a Contemporary Romance which she describes as Groundhog Day meets My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Jenni Combs-Pokrywka- The Point of No Return is Jenni’s debut novel. Jenni has lived in various places such as Kentucky and Germany but currently resides in Virginia with her husband and three children.

Leila Gaskin–  Leila writes an eclectic array of short stories, is a computer genius, and a sweetheart. Hot Flashes is her debut Urban Fantasy novel.

Claudia Harbaugh- Claudia writes Historical Romance Novels. Her Grace in Disgrace is her debut novel.

Diane Major-  Diane is one smarticle- particle and has a killer jewelry collection. She focuses on historical fiction and her novel, The Ax and the Vase, tells the tale of Clovis, the first king of France.

Steven K. Smith-– Steven is a Middle Grade Writer, father of 3 boys, and works in e-healthcare.

Meredith R. Stoddard- Meredith is a talented writer and fiber artist. In fact, her family lived for 3 generations in a North Carolina mill village.

Kristi Tuck Austin- Kristi was the 2013 James River Writers Conference Chair. She’s working on a YA novel, Potter’s Field (a modern day post-apocalyptic twist on Faulkner’s  As I Lay Dying). Like Leila, she’s one of the sweetest people I know, even if she does drink her coffee black.

Donna C. White-  Donna has been a volunteer with World Vision Canada for 2o years. Her novel, Bullets, Blood and Stones is a novel about child soldiers in Uganda.
