Keep Calm and Answer These Fifteen Questions

  1. Do you consider yourself a logophile? If so, have you always been? Yes, I love words and how they can make us feel. They are very powerful.
  2. What is your favorite color? Aqua blue or yellow. I like bright, funky colours.
  3. Where were you born? Where did you grow up? I was born in Scotland. I grew up in an ex-mining town, which meant high unemployment but very down to earth people . The town is actually the very same town as singer, Susan Boyle. And yeah, I do know Susan!
  4. What do you do when you are not writing? I read, go walks, watch movies, go to the beach, shop for bargains.
  5. Do you have a day job as well? I am a full time mummy at the moment.
  6. Do you have any advice for aspiring authors? Keep reading, writing down ideas, look for inspiration and just keep going back to your manuscript. Don’t give up!
  7. Is being a writer a curse or a gift? A bit of both. It is a gift to be able to make another person laugh or cry from your words but it is also a bit of a curse as sometimes I’d like to just ‘switch off’ but my mind is always racing with ideas.
  8. Do you prefer silence or some noise while you write? I like silence, but that is not always easy with three kids.
  9. What do you typically drink while writing? Endless cups of tea, that seem to get cold too quickly!
  10.  When did you first start and when did you finish your book? I started and stopped many times over a 2 year spell due to having a new baby and poor health. I almost gave up a few times but I somehow carried on.
  11. How do you market your book? What avenues work best? I spend a lot of time on my blog – http://Alanamunroauthor.com, share on social media and I also run an online support group for writers called Support-a-Writer. I find my group is a fantastic way to meet and connect with like minded people.
  12. What has been the best compliment? I get a lot of good emails about my book. I liked it when a woman said she felt like her feelings had been validated and she felt liberated thanks to my honesty. She was no longer alone.
  13. Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination? My book is based on my own true life experiences. It is deeply personal and often shocking accounts of women bullying, bitching, or being horrible to me or other women. However, I felt if just one woman could feel reassured by my experiences then it is worth the efforts I put in.
  14. What question did I leave out that you’d like to answer? Why did you write this book? I have experienced a ridiculous amount of toxic behaviours at the hands of females, such as jealousy, power games, high expectations, bitching and bullying. I wanted to ‘make sense’ of all these negative behaviours. What’s actually going on between women? I also wanted to share all of my personal stories to help my readers digest how unfair some females ‘can’ behave. The book is hard hitting and at times hard to swallow but I believe it is possible to find healthy and happy friendships with females. I do offer some important warning signs to look out for and some questions to ask yourself – as I do want my readers to protect themselves from future pain. This is not a witch hunt, this book is about trying to understand young women and learning how we can protect ourselves from difficult females.
  15. Where can we buy the book? The book is available on most good online stores such as Amazon, WHSmith, Waterstones, Tesco…the best thing to do for more information is hop onto my blog –http://alanamunroauthor.com

Please fill in the blank: Keep Calm and find good friends!
